We are very pleased to welcome Mathew Ferness to our little label family. Mathew hails from a small town in Quebec province, the French side of Canada. He started listening to music at a young age, always ahead on the latest music and always an outcast to the other people of is town. Inspired by 90s electronic music he started producing around 2010, some kind of Intelligent House Music. He already released on labels such as BeatXChangers, Fina Records, Closer to Truth and Lisztomania just to name a few.

“High Expectations” is not just a next release for Mathew, It’s something special, almost an album kinda, or a studio EP if you want to call it that. One of those albums that you have to listen to all the way thru.... A journey through deep and jazzy house territory is what you can expect when you click play on this one. Opening with the orchestral interlude that is “High Expectations” you get drawn in a mood and setting that reminds us of 90s electronic artists like Dj Shadow or the early Ninja Tune and Mo Wax output. “She’s too Misty” takes on those same classical feeling and is transporting it into a proper dance floor track with deep subby bass lines and a spaced-out arrangement.

“The Ego” and “In Dreams” are true stormers of tracks and stand out for us personally on this release, just loving the deep bass in “The Ego”! and those vocal stabs in the middle part of “In Dreams”, So special! we can already see both tracks tear up any dancefloor! High Expectations on these for sure!

“Covelant Bond” is the second interlude on this mini album and guides us with it’s warm setting towards a blissful closing track called “I Might Have Been Wrong”. This one is a great mix of modern House sounds a la Laurence Guy or Leon Vynhall. Taking that deep and organic sound to the floor. Epic!

When expectations are too high, deceptions happen, hearts are broken, and dreams are crushed. Songs about having a crush on a beautiful misty foreign online fan, that of course did not work out. Battling my anxiety, digging into family past, having weird dreams, understanding myself more, and working on meeting my so-called, high expectations.
